Each year Alpha Kappa puts on an event called In Her Shoes. In Her Shoes welcomes fellow Greek life members, University of Oregon students and staff, as well as members of the Eugene community to walk a mile while wearing high heels to raise domestic violence awareness. After the walk, participants gather at the Alpha Chi Omega house and celebrate over food, Dutch Bros. drinks, music and a photo booth! We hope that the participants in the event walk away with a sense of awareness and are inspired to prevent domestic violence in their respective communities. All proceeds go directly to Womenspace: a local shelter in Eugene for survivors of domestic violence.
Each year Alpha Kappa raises awareness for domestic violence prevention with our Healthy Relationships Week campaign! February 9-13 is National Healthy Relationship Week, in which Alpha Kappa reaches out to the community by recognizing healthy relationships and fostering the relationships in our community! For our event, we create a photo booth where members of the community can write what love means to them on their hands and take pictures with their friends and loved ones. This year we had an exceptional turn out and are so happy to spread awareness and love within our community!
